An innovative urban climate measurement network records the effective temperatures to which users are exposed in urban areas, which enables better forecasts and planning principles. As a result of climate change, the heat load on people and infrastructure in cities is increasing in summer. Current architectural and ventilation concepts are less and less able to ensure well-being. Heat stress in and outside buildings is becoming an increasing problem for sensitive population groups (e.g. elderly people; people with cardiovascular problems). The heat also affects infrastructure due to damage (e.g. asphalt damage, rail faults).
